Chihiro Kitagawa, President of Media Etc. had established the agency in 1992, and with the help of her associates, has built the reputation of the company through determination and perseverance. Kitagawa oversees client services including advertising scheduling and budgeting, art direction, market research, copy writing and translation. Prior to establishing Media Etc., Kitagawa’s experience ranged from managing and becoming a buyer for House of Tiki, a retail boutique, in Nagoya, Japan to translating legal documents for the law firm of Damon Key Bocken Leong Kupchak in Honolulu. Her experience with PR Japan (Honolulu) provided the opportunity to pursue her interest in graphic design and advertising. Kitagawa studied Graphic Design, Fine Art and Photography at the Corcoran School of Art in Washington, D.C. She also completed the ESL Program at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C.
When I was a child, I wanted to be a ballet instructor, a novelist and an artist when I grew up.

When I retire I’d like to… do more volunteer work at Gaia Pacific Center, travel the world, write stories of people I have met, go to Onsen with my friends and surf, dance and do yoga everyday!
Yuko Porter, Vice President and Production Manager of Media Etc., is the design engine of the agency. Her skills include product design, conceptualization, logo design, package design, advertising and graphic design. Taking after her father’s passion for design, Porter began her graphic design career at YS Design Inc. (an Industrial Design Company) in Osaka, Japan with a client list that included large corporations such as Panasonic, OMROM, Sakura and Sanyo. After moving to Hawaii, Porter worked for PR Japan and then later launched Graphica Creative in 1994 where she worked for five years before joining Media Etc. Porter was educated at the Saga Art College (Product design major) in Kyoto City, Japan.
When I was a child, I wanted to be a preschool teacher when I grew up.

When I retire I’d like to… travel!
As Fashion Stylist, Secretary and Accounts Manager, Sascha Koki assists Chihiro in overseeing client services including event coordination, social media coverage, copy writing and translation. Prior to joining Media Etc., Koki worked on the visual team at Coach Ala Moana, then later worked as a Fashion Editor at Morris Visitor Publications, writing for various publications and television programs including Where Oahu, Where Maui, Where TV, R Magazine, TS@W (The Shops at Wailea magazine), InsideOut Oahu, Outrigger Guestbooks and Outrigger TV Shopping Channel. She also had the opportunity to hone her skills as a wardrobe stylist as she assisted top stylists from Los Angeles and eventually working as head stylist for editorial and advertising work and has maintained clients such as Japanese musical artist Jennifer for personal stylist services as well. Koki has a BA in Communications from University of Hawaii at Manoa.

Mutsumi Matsunobu, Coordination Manager and Writer, is the breathe of vital energy that keeps the company’s creative flow in motion. Matsunobu provides expertise in Japanese translation, copy writing, editorial coordination, graphics layout and design support, business and product information and media research of Japanese market trends. Matsunobu has earned a BFA in Graphic Design from the University of Hawaii.
When I was a child, I wanted to be a vet or a zookeeper when I grew up.

When I retire I’d like to… visit hot springs!
Treasurer and Office Manager, Kayo Watari provides the support system to keep Media Etc. in prime operating conditions. By maintaining solid financial standings for the company and establishing meaningful relationships with vendors, she allows others to function optimally. She also imparts invaluable insight into media and creative budgets for its clients. Prior to joining Media Etc., Watari worked as an accountant in an accounting office, taking care of her clients’ over all bookkeeping needs including tax preparation, labor law and immigration law related matters. Watari was educated at Kapiolani Community College in Honolulu, HI.
When I was a child, I wanted to be a detective when I grew up.
